DNA Bank of the Zoologische Staatssammlung München The DNA bank of the ZSM is part of the DNA Bank Network which was established in spring 2007 and is currently funded by the DFG. The network was initiated by GBIF Germany and provides a technically optimized DNA collection service facility for all biological research accessible via one central web portal. The network promotes deposition of well documented reference DNA samples after project completion or data publication from scientists of other universities and institutions.

Zoologische Staatssammlung München The Bavarian State Collection of Zoology (Zoologische Staatssammlung München, ZSM) is, with over 20 million zoological objects, one of the major German research institutions for zoological systematics and one of the largest natural history collections in the world. The research conducted at the ZSM on taxonomic, systematic, biological, and biogeographical issues, and the documentation and dissemination of this information, provides the biosystematic basis for research projects focussing on issues of biodiversity, conservation, evolution, and ecology.
